The new GUI is only intended to replace the current GUI, so it won't be classed as a new major version.
The next one should be 4.3 & it will more likely than not still have the same GUI. It's just a bug fix update with some new features - some of which sound quite nice - I say sound because I've not received a team build since the current public version.

Would be cool if the Devs would have like their own Thread or something where they post Updates from time to time. Like a developers diary Nothing fancy though of course.

There is already a team wiki (old) that the devs post a basic changelog to. I don't know if I'm allowed to share the link though. All the other pages on the wiki require an account to view.

Would be kind of neat Blender does a similiar thing, where they post weekly dev meeting logs, just so everyone knows where they're at. But it's up to the Vis Guys to decide

I think for such main bugs like the ttf thing, bugfix patches should be released immediately after fixing (4.3.x)! It's not nice that the users have to wait for a main release with new features to get a fix for a bug in the current version.
