Icons overlap on external monitor

    Hi,

I'm having a little problem with the display/resolution of the app on my external monitor (1920x1080). It looks good on my Macbook Air M1 display, but as soon as I move the program window to the monitor, it gets all scrambled up and the icons overlap (see the attached picture).

Is there any setting I could change to fix this? I'm using the latest version of Visionaire 5.

Thank you so much in advance!

I would check the resolution display of your monitor or turn off the increased scaling option for it.

That screenshot you uploaded is not 1920x1080 & everything on it looks massively scaled up. Also there's an option in the editor options for overriding dpi scaling size - you could try messing with that.

Anyway, when the icons & things start overlapping it's because there's not enough space, which is usually down to using a screen resolution that's too small for the editor.

This is what the editor should look like on a 1920x1080 resolution monitor without scaling enabled...

    Hey,

thanks so much for the answer!

I checked and my external monitor has the resolution of 1920x1200, not 1920x1080 - nevermind the screenshot, it was scaled down and uploaded just for the purpose of showing what the problem looks like.

I tried the "overriding dpi scaling size", but it doesn't do anything or I don't know how to use it. And can you please explain where I could find the "scaling option"? The program looks just fine when viewed on my Macbook, just when moved to the external monitor, it gets all scrambled.

    Thanks again!

I'm not a mac user, so I don't know if it works differently on macOS. On windows you can right click on the .exe file & edit dpi settings in the compatibility tab.

There is some option for overriding the dpi in the actual editor options too, but I don't know when it was added to the editor or what it does exactly. It can be found by clicking on the menu icon (top left, 3 horizontal lines) > options... > settings: override dpi.

What happens if you manually drag resize the editor?

    * Ah, by scaling option you mean the one to do with the desktop resolution? I'm not sure how to do that on mac either.  On windows we have a display settings that lets us tweak our desktop resolution, scaling amount (default is 100%), & which monitor to use as our primary, etc. I found this for mac, maybe it will help?
