We are a small team of game lovers and are creating a point-and-click adventure game in pixel look.
Repeat is a game in the classic adventure style - solving puzzles, having dialogues and combining objects - with a lot of black humour. You play Marc Woods, a failed screenwriter who no longer sees any sense in his life and therefore wants to kill himself.
Why are we looking for
We are a small team of four people who cover all areas of the game. Dubo developed the rough concept, does parts of the graphics and creates the story (dialogues, puzzles, story development) together with Katja bit by bit. Angie creates the music and Boris takes care of the game engine (Visionaire), i.e. that the individual parts become a whole, a game. Since there is a lot to do in the graphics and in Visionaire, we are looking for reinforcement here, so that we can make faster and more focused progress.
Graphic designer
Who you are
You are a person with graphic experience and you feel attracted by our project. Or let's say you have fallen in love with the project and would like to participate. You know pixelart or have the confidence to do so. You can join an existing project and have no problem that the guidelines arise from the already existing style as well as the story. You can implement them creatively.
What you do
As mentioned, there is already a graphic designer. He will make the figures (and possibly other parts). You would be responsible for the backgrounds, inventory objects and/or other screens.
Technical specification
The resolution of the game is 1280x720 pixels. But for the pixel look we create the graphics for the scenes and characters in a smaller resolution (320x180) and scale them up. We create the GUI (General User Interface) elements and the inventory objects in the actual game resolution (so you can see more of them). The figures (which are created by the other graphic artist) are made with Cinema4D, the backgrounds with Photoshop. For you, Photoshop (and/or other/similar programs) would be crucial. Cinema4D is absolutely not a must (unless you already know it, in which case it wouldn't hurt).
Programmer
Who you are
You have looked into our project and would like to be part of this pixelated adventure. You already have a flair for logical thinking and have already programmed or can imagine doing so. You have no problem to join an existing project where some things are already predefined.
What you do
In Visionaire - our game engine - a lot of things work without direct programming code. However, with such a big project, you can't avoid doing some programming. The programming language Visionaire uses is LUA. Together with Boris, you would make sure that the created content - graphics, texts, music, ... - is inserted into the engine and that Visionaire knows what to do with it. That means that you - together with Boris - set the values, variables, conditions and programme instructions for the right functionality and - where necessary - also reach for the programming code.
Technical specification
The resolution of the game is 1280x720 pixels. It is a game in classic point-and-click style with modern controls, i.e. the left mouse button is automatically assigned to the most useful command, while you can look at things with the right. The graphics will be like a sidescroller and will feature parallax effects. We are working with the game engine Visionaire, which uses the programming language LUA.
What you get
The project will be created by us in our spare time and (so far) with our budget. That means, there is no money involved for the time being. We are creating it primarily because we believe in this project and because we have always wanted to do something like this. You will of course get credits in the game for your work and when the game is published - after expenses 5% for your work. We have no idea if and how the game will take off, but we are not doing it for financial reasons. If this is the motivation, then another project might make more sense.
And? What next?
You feel addressed? Cool! Contact us so that we can get to know each other (digitally) and see if we fit you and you fit us. We are looking forward to meeting you. And if you have any questions, just get in touch. See ya!
